Wolcott, WY Woman Prevents Train Wreck, Sept 1895
Train Saved by a Woman
CHEYENNE, Wy., Sept. 14.---Mrs. Olstrum, wife of a section foreman, has saved the westbound fast mail train on the Union Pacific, consisting of two mail cars, a day coach and a Pullman sleeper, from a probable frightful wreck near Wolcott station, six miles from Rawhus. While alone at the sectionhouse she discovered that a wooden bridge spanning a small gully crossed by the track was burning. She flagged the train which was stopped within 30 feet of the blazing bridge. The passengers on the fast mail made up a purse of $50 for the woman.
