Cross Plains, WI fire, Feb 1889

FIRE AT CROSS PLAINS. - A fire at Cross Plains, recently, destroyed what was known as the fair store, in that village. The building was a two-story frame structure belonging to H. Dahmen, and the stock belonged to Emil Herring. Both building and stock are a total loss. The former was valued at $2,000 and was uninsured; the latter was worth about $6,000 and was insured for about two-thirds of its value.
