Kimberly, WI Mill Collapses, Oct 1927

Whether the walls or the floor of the building collapsed first is problematical. The second floor of the building contained two beaters and there was one on the first floor. It is said a quantity of pulp was piled on the second floor of the structure.

The building which collapsed is an older unit between two newer structures. Repairs were made on it not long ago, it was reported.

The bodies of JOHN FIERS and HERMAN SPRANGERS had not been removed from the pit at 3 o'clock this afternoon but they had been pronounced dead by the doctors. OTTO KRUEGER, a Meyer company employe, died at the hospital, and the bodies of LANGVELDT and GOFFARD were taken out of the wreckage.
GEORGE VANDEN HEUVEL, who owas rescued after 2 o'clock was so little injured that he was able to walk unassisted. His first act was to light a cigaret.
