Gordonville, VA Troop Train Wreck, Sept 1868

A Train of Soldiers Thrown on the Track in Virginia—Several Killed and a Large Number Wounded—

RICHMOND, Va., Sept. 28.—A train on the Central Railroad with 200 of the 29th Infantry on board from Washington for Tennessee, ran off the track this afternoon near Gordonville killing four and wounding a large number. Four cars went off the track. Three companies of same regiment left today for Tennessee.

The train from Washington with troops for Tennessee ran off the track yesterday at Gordonsville, and we suspect the “accident” to have been caused by a deliberate attempt of the Virginia chivalry to wreck the train.
