EAST TEXAS CRASH KILLS 7 PERSONS.
Huntsville, Tex. (AP) - Seven persons were killed and three others injured late Sunday night in a two-car head-on collision on Texas 19 near this East Texas town, the State Department of Public Safety said. Nine of the 10 persons involved in the accident were in one car.
DPS identified the dead as HENRY GEORGE BOWDEN, 30, of Trinity, Tex.; MARY ALLEN RAWLS, 41, of Houston; RACHELLE KEYS, 4, of Houston; ADELL McQUEEN, 5, of Houston; JOYCE ELAINE McDaniel, 9, of Houston; CHARLES RAWLS, 4, of Houston; and LULA BELL McDaniel, 49, of Houston.
The injured were identified as DELBERT RAWLS, 3, of Houston; JOHNNY W. RAWLS, 46, of Houston and MICHAELL KEYS, 2, of Houston. DELBERT RAWLS was in critical condition in a Houston hospital. JOHNNY RAWLS was in critical condition at a Huntsville hospital and young KEYS was listed in satisfactory condition at a Huntsville hospital.
BOWDEN was the driver and sole occupant of one of the vehicles, DPS said. The other six killed and all three of the injured were said to have been in the car driven by MARY ALLEN RAWLS.
Four persons were pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck, while three others died en route to hospitals.
