Wadeville, TX Horse Accident, Aug 1879
CORSICANA, Aug. 7. -- A sad accident happened near Wadeville yesterday evening, which has cast a gloom over the eastern portion of our county. Two young ladies, Misses Sallie and Eva Sherrill rode their horses to the bank near the house. Eva's horse became frightened and threw her, the fall breaking her neck and causing death instantly. This caused Sallie's horse to take fright, and throw her too, her dress catching on the horn of the saddle, caused her to be kicked in the face by the horse. Her injuries, though severe, are not necessarily fatal. The mother on seeing the bodies of her daughters brought to the house swoned [?] away, and it is now thought has lost her mind entirely. The Sherrill family were among our first settlers in the county, and have hosts of relatives and friends to sympathize with them in their sad affliction.
