Haskell, TX Fire, Apr 1922

Disasterous [sic] Fire

One of the most disasterous [sic] fires that has occurred in Haskell in years happened Friday. The Cowart hotel, Western Union Telegraph office were burned and T. C. Cohill's office, Haskell Ice and Light company's office, Sutherlin's Barber shop, Haskell Telephone company, Kinnison's Barber shop, Arthur Edwards and Claud Thomas, all sustained losses. The loss of Cowart hotel was estimated at $10,000. The total loss being $20,000. All these houses, the City Meat Market, and Farmer's Bank would have been burned had it not been for the heroic and efficient work of the fire boys, and the bountiful water supply furnished by the city water works.
