Fall From Horse Proves Fatal To Z. J. Fonvilla

Zelvin John Fanvilla, 36, died in the local hospital Monday night, from injuries received when the horse he was riding on the Truman Robertson ranch, Crystal Falls fell with him on Sunday afternoon. He was employee of the Robertson ranch.

Account of the accident as received today was that Mr. Fonvilla’s two boys, John Thomas and Zelvin Burl, went with their father into a pasture.

Some salt was scattered around and when the cattle came up Mr. Fonvilla noticed one calf with worms in its horn. He was trying to rope the calf. A cow ran under the neck of his horse and tripped it. Mr. Fonvilla was thrown on his head.

He was born on September 11, 1911 in Eastland County, Texas.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at the Methodist Church near Desdemona, near Eastland and burial will be at the Howard Cemetery.

Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Fonvilla, Eastland County; his wife; two sons, John Thomas and Zelvin Burl; seven daughters, Eileen, Etta Onetia, Eunice Nadine, Zula LaVerne, Grace Marie, Linda Faye, and Marilyn; one brother, Jay Fonville, Breckenridge and one sister, Mrs. Lee Swain, Eastland.

Later today it was learned that a short service for Fonvilla will be conducted in the Satterwhite Chapel at 10 a.m. Wednesday with Rev. Truman Aldredge officiating and the afternoon services in DesDemona at the Methodist Church will be at 3 p.m.
