Sulphur Springs, TX Lightning Strike, Jun 1886

Heavy Rain and Thunder Storm--

Special to The News.

SULPHUR SPRINGS, June 28—About 4 o’clock yesterday evening this town and vicinity was visited by the heaviest rain storm of the season, accompanied by heavy wind and terrific thunder and lightning, during which W. D. Beal’s residence was struck by lightning and took fire. The fire was soon extinguished, with but little damage. None of the family were hurt.

Some trees were blown down and corn was badly twisted. The rain makes a large corn crop for this section.
