Huntsville, TX Area Dam Burst and Flood, Apr 1926

PHELPS, Tex., April 21.--(AP)--Cloudbursts, loosing between 10 and 12 inches of rain, deluged this sections late today, flooding roads and lowlands.

Water knee-deep covered the Great Northern railway tracks and stranded Governor Ferguson's party returning from a visit to the state penitentiary at Huntsville.

The whole countryside in the vicinity of Huntsville's water supply reservoir was flooded when the Huntsville dam burst. Water from more than an hour's downpour proved too much for the reservoir dam and it gave way, virtually inundating the immediate vicinity.
