Shelbyville, TN Fire Destroys Buildings, Dec 1905
SHELBYVILLE STORES BURN.
Shelbyville sustained a $10,000 fire Saturday morning, originating in the office of the Shelby County Guard, and completely gutting three two-story brick buildings. Two of the buildings were owned by W. A. DIMMITT, with no insurance, the other being owned by FRANK DIMMITT, with $10,000 insurance. The occupants of the building were DUNN, PRIEST and DOYLE, abstractors and loan agents, who saved their furniture and libraries; R. E. MARSHALL, barber, who suffered a small loss; DR. WILLIAM CARSON, small loss; city council rooms, in which were all the city records, was destroyed; W. A. DIMMITT'S Racket store, most of which was removed to the street, no insurance. Congressman LLOYD had his office in two of the rooms, but he carried insurance and the loss is slight. The Guard plant was completely destroyed with no insurance.
