BAD FIRE AT NASHVILLE.

PROPERTY VALUED AT $600,000 A PREY TO THE FLAMES.

Nashville, Tenn., Jan. 4. -- The destructive conflagration, which visited this city Saturday night at 11:15 was not well under control before three a.m.
Buildings on Market Street and the public square were destroyed. The total estimated damage is $600,000, of which slightly more than 50 per cent, is covered by insurance. Several accidents of trifling consequence were reported. The origin of the fire is still a mystery. It was first seen in the second story of Lebeck Bros.', the flames bursting from half a dozen windows. No one was in the building at the time.
The principal losses are now estimated as follows:
Lebeck Bros., stock, $150,000; insurance, $90,000.
Abernathy, Langham & Shook, loss $23,000; insurance, $15,000.
Burns & Co., loss $50,000; insurance $30,000.
Lieckbardt & Co., loss $25,000; fully covered by insurance.
Tracy & Co., $15,000; insurance, $8,000.
Brandon Shoe company, $8,000; insurance, $5,500.
