Pipe's Explosion Brought Injury

Special to The Inquirer.

OIL CITY, Pa., Dec. 22.----Residents of the Third ward were startled by an explosion this morning that severely injured one man. William Verner, the injured employe[sic], whose leg was broken, and severe cut sustained, was engaged in thawing a piece of iron pipe. It is supposed nitroglycerine was concealed in the pipe, which the heat caused to explode. Verner was blown some distance while the contents of the yard were scattered over the neighborhood.
