Five teen-age boys died in a fiery one-car accident in Susquehanna County, authorities said yesterday.
Five teen-agers died about 8:30 p.m. Saturday when their compact, four-door car ran off state Route 944 in Clifford Township, struck a boulder, then hit two trees before flipping into a drainage ditch, Trooper Bill Williams said.
The car caught fire after hitting the boulder, trapping all five inside, according to Williams.
He said police have been unable to determine why the driver, RICHARD GILLOTT, 16, of Carbondale, failed to make a sharp left-hand curve, steering the car off the road.
No one survived the crash, he said. The four other victims were Carbondale residents WILLIAM CONIGLIARO, 16; CHRISTOPHER ROBINSON, 15; and PATRICK CASSARO III, 16; and JEFFERY DAVIS, 16, of Jermyn.
