Lyndora, PA Plant Explosion Kills One, Mar 1963

EXPLOSION IN PLANT KILLS KARNS CITY MAN; INJURES THREE.

Butler, Pa. (UPI) -- JOHN P. GROSSMAN, about 40, of Karns City, R.D. 1, was killed and three other men injured Wednesday in an explosion at the Air Reduction Co. plant in suburban Lyndora.
The injured were admitted to Butler County Memorial Hospital. They were identified as ALBERT MORROW, 46, North Washington, Pa., and BENJAMIN KEIL, 44, and JOHN MOTKO, 51, both of Butler. MORROW and KEIL were reported in serious condition. MOTKO was listed in fair condition.
Plant Manager Gustave Benz said damage may run as high as $20,000. Benz said cause of the explosion, which occurred while the men were working on a gasoline engine, was still under investigation.
The explosion touched off a fire which was quickly brought under control.
