Rummersfield, PA Train Wreck, Dec 1926
2 KILLED, 4 INJURED IN RAILROAD WRECK.
Sayre, Pa., Dec. 30 -- (UP) -- Two men were killed in a freight wreck on the Lehigh Valley Railroad here today.
The accident occurred near Rummerfield, when a fast freight crashed head-on into a slow freight. Both tracks of the road between Wilkes-Barre and Sayre were blocked by the wreckage.
The dead men are Engineer JOHNSON of the fast freight and his fireman, M. J. LANGAN.
In the collision the engine and 30 cars of the fast freight were overturned and wrecked.
LANGAN was a junior in the chemistry department
of Lafayette University. He worked one day each month on the railroad to hold his rights as an employe of the company.
LANGAN'S father was killed in a mine disaster at Pittston, Pa.
