KILLED BY A TREE

South McAlester, I. T., via Savanna, I. T., Jan. 12.—News has just reached this place of an accident happening near Coalgate. Mr. Samuel Locke was cutting timber when a falling tree lodged on a small one. Locke struck the small tree which caused the large tree to fall knocking him down, the tree falling across his legs cutting the right one nearly off and crushing thee other in a frightful manner. The man who was with him tied a cord around the leg that was nearly cut off and went for the doctor. After he had gone the pain became so great that Mr. Locke loosed the bandage which came near bleeding him to death before the doctor came. The leg had to be amputated from the effects of which Mr. Locke died Wednesday morning.
