In New Matamoras, Ohio, five people were killed Friday and two were seriously hurt when a pickup truck collided head-on with a van, the state highway patrol said.
Authorities did not identify the victims. Details about what caused the crash were not immediately available.
The two injured victims were hospitalized. One was listed in fair condition at Marietta Memorial Hospital and the other, a 37-year-old man, was in critical condition at Grant Medical Center in Columbus.
New Matamoras is about 105 miles southeast of Columbus.

New Matamoras, Ohio (AP) - Five people were killed and two men were seriously hurt when a pickup collided head-on with a minivan, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.
Killed on Friday were minivan passengers VIOLET JEFFERS, 54; BUBBIE JEFFERS, 52; NANCY STEWART, 32, and STEVEN CRONIN, 24, all of New Matamoras, and CHARLES G. ROBINSON II, 29 of New Martinsville, W. Va., who was in the pickup.
The minivan's driver, HARRY STEWART, 37, of New Matamoras, was in critical condition at Grant Medical Center at Columbus. Pickup driver RYAN CISAR, 23, of New Martinsville, was in fair condition at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
Details about what caused the crash were not immediately available, but the patrol said both vehicles were left of center on the two-lane road when they hit.
Sgt. Gary Lewis said CISAR, who was the only one wearing a seatbelt, had been drinking. Results of a blood test were pending and evidence will be turned over to the Washington County prosecutor, he said. The accident happened about 5:15 p.m. on Ohio 7.
