Cleveland, OH Trolley Car Hits Boy, Sept 1904

Joseph Mayer, six years old of No. 1151 Broadway, was struck by a south bound Broadway car yesterday morning, and died two hours later.

Mayer was on a errand for his parents and a block away from his home when he started to cross the street. He either did not see the car or miscalculated its speed. He was hurled more than ten feet striking upon his head. The skull was badly fractured.

Richard’s ambulance removed him to St. Alexis hospital, where he died shortly before noon. The child’s parents were at the bedside to the end.
