New York, NY Fire Escape Accident, Sept 1907

Miss Cahill, Locked Out of Her Flat, Slips from Fire Escape.

The body of Miss Margaret Cahill, 26 years old, was found in the cement paved courtyard in the rear of the five-story flathouse at 202 East Forty-fourth-street early yesterday morning by a Mrs. Kapalena, who lives on the ground floor. The young woman's neck was broken.

Miss Cahill lived on the top floor of the house with her sister, Mrs. Nellie Cahill. She went out Saturday night and returned home about 9:30 o'clock to find that no one was home. She obtained the keys to a vacant apartment adjoining, and told the janitress she was going to get to the fire escape by way of the vacant flat and from the fire escape into her own apartment. She evidently missed her footing and fell from the fire escape to the courtyard.
