Lancaster, NY Tractor Trailer And Auto Crash, Mar 1994

Lancaster - Four brothers between 6 months old and 8 years old were killed along with their father after their car swerved into oncoming traffic and slammed head-on into a tractor-trailer rig Monday.
Since everyone in the car was killed, investigators said they might not be able to determine what caused driver MICHAEL IZYDORCZAK, 35, to veer his car into the path of the truck in the Buffalo suburb of Lancaster.
"He could just as easily have been trying to pass somebody or was trying to take care of the boys and may have taken his eyes off the road," said police Lt. Leon Trzewieczynski.
IZYDORCZAK'S car was about 50 to 100 feet away from the truck when it swerved in front of the rig about 2 p.m. The truck driver tried to brake but was unable to stop in time or get out of the way, Trzewieczynski said.
IZYDORCZAK, his 8-year-old son PETER and 6-month-old son JOHN MICHAEL were killed instantly. Six-year-old SIMON and 4-year-old LUKE died later at hospitals. The family lived in nearby Depew.
The truck driver, whose name was not released, sustained a slight bruise to his knee. No charges were expected against the truck driver.
