Crescent, NY Auto And Truck Collision, Dec 1956


Crescent, N.Y. (UP) - Four members of one family were killed today when their car was struck broadside by a trailer-truck after colliding with another auto. The driver of the second car died later.
A sixth person was critically hurt. Three others escaped with minor injuries.
State police identified the dead as:
FRANK FOLMSBEE, SR., about 45 of nearby Latham;
his two sons, FRANK, JR., 21, a Marine home on leave, and HAROLD, 20;
a daughter, ABBIE JOYCE, about 16;
and GORDON NELSON, 18, of Scotia, N.Y.
NELSON died in Albany Hospital where he had been taken with brain injuries. MARY JANE FOLMSBEE, 19, who received brain and chest injuries, was listed in critical condition.
Three teen-agers riding with NELSON were released after treatment at Leonard Hospital, Troy. They were CAROL COOPER, 17; WILLIAM VAN PATTEN, 17, and ROSEMARY NAPLES, 17, all of Scotia.
The truck driver, ROY SNYDER, 25, of Red Hook, escaped injury, police said.
