Brooklyn, NY Tunnel Horse Accident, Jan 1908

Horses Badly Hurt and Had to be Shot---Cabman Arrested.

Frederick Bischoff, a cabman of 4,818 Fifth Avenue, Brooklyn, attempted to drive a coach and two horses through the tunnel in Church Avenue, Brooklyn, through which the surface cars only are allowed to travel.

While going down the steep incline the coach overturned, smashing it, and injuring the two horses so badly that they had to be shot. Bischoff also was hurt, but after his injuries were dressed he was locked up.

The Church Avenue cars were delayed over an hour in consequence of the accident.
