5 FALL THROUGH ICE AND PERISH.

Odessa, N.Y., Jan. 21. -- (AP) -- A week-end ice skating and sledding party turned into tragedy when a 20-year-old college student and four children disappeared through a soft spot in the ice on Cayuga Lake.
A search party of 120 men recovered the five bodies yesterday.
When last seen Saturday afternoon, ALLEN SIBLEY, a Cornell University junior, was skating on the lake, towing two sleds bearing the children.
A volunteer fireman found a child's mitten near the only open break in the ice.
Two sleds, coupled together, also were recovered from the 32 feet of water.
The victims included SIBLEY'S brother, JONATHAN, aged 10, and sister, CLAIRE, aged 6. The others were JUNE STATES, aged 6, and SHARON LOVELESS, aged 9.
All five were from Alpine, a nearby community in this Finger Lakes region of south central New York.
