EXPLOSION IN LAB KILLS THREE AND INJURES 11.
Linden, N.J. (AP) - An explosion in a vitamin laboratory killed three men and injured 11 others early today at the Merck and Co. pharmaceutical plant.
The men were working in the first floor of a three-story brick building when flammable solvents apparently ignited, a company spokesman said. Fire broke out briefly.
The dead were identified as:
WALTER GREEN, of Rahway;
and EDWARD L. MNISCH, of Linden.
Another operator, LEO BITSCH, was seriously injured.
Ten other workers were treated for minor injuries.
