Cape May, NJ Storm, Feb 1896


Cape May, N. J., Feb. 6. A severe northeastern storm prevailed here today. Several hundred feet of the drive on Beach avenue, and the trolley road was washed away, involving a loss of $3,000. The cottages of John E. Lonabaugh and Peter Day were in great danger of destruction at one time, the sea washing under them. The barometer is he lowest for twenty years. There are grave fears of more damage at high tide to-night.
