Buena, NJ Lightning Strike Kills Cat, Aug 1904

Bolt Enters Every Room in House, But Human Beings Escape

Special to The Inquirer

VINELAND, N. J., Aug. 18--During a severe electrical storm yesterday the house of Alfred Pennock, of Buena, near here, was struck by lightning and a scorched trail was left in every room. Balls of fire ran all around Mrs. Pennock and her daughter, but neither felt any shock.

A cat curled up asleep on the kitchen porch was lifted and thrown twenty feet into the yard, where it was found dead in the same position as when sleeping on the porch.

The plunger of a pump in the back yard was ripped out and hung upon the grape arbor.
