Portsmouth, NH Drowning, Jul 1898

A story was circulated around town on Monday afternoon that Currier, clerk at O. F. Philbrick’s coal office, had been drowned in Lake Winnipesaukee while out sailing. On investigating it a Herald reporter learned that it was Mr. Currier’s cousin who was drowned while Mr. Currier himself was rescued in an exhausted condition.

It seems that the two young men were out sailing when the boat capsized throwing them into the water. Currier clung to the bottom of the boat while his cousin was drowned.
