Harvard Sophomore Drowned.

PORTSMOUTH, N. H., July 28--Edgar M. Staples, a sophomore at Harvard College, son of Moses L. Staples of Ogunquit, was drowned this afternoon. He was out in a boat, and in diving, it is supposed, he struck a rock, as his nose was broken and there were gashes across the face. Mr. Staples ranked high in scholarship. Last year he won the one-hundred-and-fifty-dollar preparation prize at Harvard.
