The Washburn mill was operated by J. A. Christian & Co.; the Humbolt by Bull, Newton & Co.; Hennepin by Gortin, Heywood & Co.; the Galaxy by Cohill, Ankeny & Co.; the Zenith by Day, Robins & Co; and the Pettit, Robinson mill by the firm named.
In addition to these mills there were numerous other buildings destroyed by the fire, including a large elevator and planing mill. Details of the loss beyond the general statement above cannot be given to-day, nor more particulars as to the dead. Their bodies are reduced to ashes, and probably will never be identified.
