Haverhill Chemist Is Hero of Explosion

Boston Journal Special Wire.

Haverhill, March 25.---Lawrence Sylvia, a chemist in the factory of the Haverhill Blacking Company, probably saved the lives of many panic-stricken employees of the company by successfully fighting the choking flames and smoke which followed an explosion of naphtha today. He was badly burned about the face. Frank Maguire, a boy who was lighting a cigarette in the room, just before the explosion, also was burned.
