Vessel and Cargo a Total Loss.
Boston, Feb. 8. The two masted schooner Mary Eliza, Capt. Thos. Morrissay, from Winterport, Me., for Boston, with hay, went ashore early this morning in Shirley [ineligible] near Deer Island, and soon went to pieces. The crew was saved and landed at Point Shirley, whence they went to Winthrop and took a train for Boston. The Mary Eliza was 107 tons, built at Newburgh, N. Y., in 1851 and owned the cargo. The vessel was valued at $2,500 and the cargo at $1,200. There was no insurance on either vessel or cargo.
