Baltimore, MD area Drownings, Oct 1887

Drowned.---Henry Pensmith, aged 19 years, son of John Pensmith, 208 South Madeira alley was drowned yesterday morning off Fort McHenry. He had tied his skiff to the schooner Cadet, bound for Patuxent river, with the intention of being towed as far as the Lazaretto. When he reached the Lazaretto he attempted to regain his boat, but missed his footing and fell into the water. Efforts to save his failed. Bartley Conroy, of Baltimore, a hand on the dredging schooner Z. Mitchell, fell overboard and was drowned Monday while drawing a bucket of water off Magothy river, Chesapeake bay.
