CRASH CLAIMS FIVE LIVES.
Pomeroy (AP) - Five people, including two infants, were killed Friday afternoon when a van ran a stop sign at a northwestern Iowa highway intersection and collided with a semi, authorities said.
Iowa State Patrol Trooper Randy Steinkamp said a van driven by RHIANNA JO GLASSEL, 18, of Holstein was traveling eastbound on State Highway 7 when it failed to stop at a stop sign.
The van was then broadsided by a semi-truck traveling north on State Highway 4.
All the occupants of the van were killed, Stienkamp sand. The Pocahontas County medical examiner pronounced dead at the scene ED KONGAWAN, 21, of Storm Lake; SHANNON MARTINEZ, 23, of Cherokee; SELENA MARTINEZ, 8 months; and MARIAH GLASSEL, who was listed as an infant with no age given.
RHIANNA JO GLASSEL was taken to Buena Vista County Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
The driver of the semi, COURTNEY SCHIEBOUT, 47, of Orange City, suffered serious injuries in the crash.
