Fort Wayne, IN Train Accident, Jul 1894

A Grand Rapids Collision.

At the south depot yesterday afternoon, while an extra car was being put on the Grand Rapids train north bound, the car broke away from the chair car which was next to the engine and ran down the track, crashing into the train. The passengers were badly shaken up and the globes broken in the lamps were shattered. A daughter of Thomas Hodekin, of West Wayne street, who was on route to Rome City, was hit on the neck by a falling piece of glass which cut a great gash. There was an alarming flow of blood and Miss Hedekin was taken to her home where a surgeon attended her. The cut is in no way a serious one.
