Vandalia Wrecks

One of the two parties killed in the Vandalia wreck near Reelsville early Tuesday morning was Fireman Fred Miller, of Greencastle, instead of Engineer Schofield, as stated Wednesday.

Young Miller was a graduate of DePauw College and a member of the Phi Gamma Delta Greek letter fraternity.

He and Engineer John Ross were both killed instantly, the former's head having been mashed almost to a pulp.

Earl W. Martin, who was killed in the collision at Bushrod, a few miles from Beehunter, on the I. & V., was a brakeman and not an engineer.

Both engineers and both firemen were more or less injured. Fireman Clarence Hunter had his right leg crushed off above the knee and was otherwise seriously injured. Fireman Henry Franke received a fractured jaw and other serious injuries.

It was reported here Wednesday morning that the engineer who had caused the accident had since become a raving maniac.
