Waterloo, IN House Fire, Jun 1913

WATERLOO HAS A FIRE.

Home of Curt Bookmiller Destroyed by the Flames.

Waterloo, Ind., June 21.---Fire, of which the origin is not known, completely destroyed the home of Curt Bookmiller in this place yesterday afternoon. None of the contents was saved. No one was at home when the fire broke out and when it was discovered had such a start that nothing could either be done to check or to save the household effects. Mrs. Bookmiller had gone to a neighbor's home and was just starting for her own home when a tramp, who had been loitering in the vicintiy, shouted to her that her home was afire. Some nearby property was damaged by the flames and both Lake Shore and interurban trains were delayed by the fire. The Bookmiller home was a modern two story residence built recently. Two thousand three hundred dollars insurance was carried on the dwelling and contents. An oil stove was left burning by Mrs. Bookmiller when she left the house.
