Dallas, IL River Steamer RED WING Bursts Pipes, July 1877


Keokuk, Iowa, July 2. -- News has been received here from Dallas, Ill., that on Saturday afternoon, the steamer RED WING, en route to St. Louis, burst her steam pipe. The following are the names of the victims:
WILLIAM MORGAN, second cook, of Rock Island, who died on Sunday at Montrose.
ISAAC MYERS, of Portsmouth, Ohio, who died here Sunday.
EDWARD WEANY, steward, missing, probably drowned.
M. E. TRACY, of Mount Ida, Iowa, badly scalded.
JOHN PIERCE, of St. Louis, first cook, scalded in the face and hands.
PETER GOLLS, St. Louis, pastry cook, slightly injured.
JOHN E. DARROW, deck passenger, scalded dangerously.
