EIGHTH PERSON DIES AS RESULT OF CRASH NEAR KEWANEE, ILLINOIS.
Kewanee, Ill., April 30. - (AP) - A collision of two passenger automobiles into the rear of a parked truck near here Saturday claimed its eighth victim today when MRS. CARL REPKE, 30, of Kewanee, died in a hospital.
The seven other victims were MR. and MRS. DONALD BINO; MR. and MRS. FRANK BINO; MRS. BETTY OSTMAN CROFT; MRS. RUBY VERSCHAGE and MISS BETTY LIVINGSTONE.
Injured were CARL REPKE and MRS. VELMA LIVINGSTONE HEPNER, both reported recovering.
WILLIAM CLARKE of Galesburg, driver of the truck, said he had stopped and pulled off the highway to change a tire. He installed flares while removing the tire, he said.
The two passenger cars, approaching from the same direction, struck the rear of the parked truck, CLARKE told police. He suggested the drivers were blinded by the lights of a car approaching from the opposite direction.
