Carmi, IL Auto And Truck Crash, Feb 1987

Seven persons died Tuesday when the car in which they were riding was hit by a tractor-trailer in Hamilton County.
A spokesman for the Illinois State Police at Carmi said the victims, all from Route 2 Dahlgren, included the driver of the automobile, his wife and three children, his brother and his sister.
ALAN D. ROST, 25, reportedly drove his car into the path of a tractor-trailer driven by DOUGLAS DALE JOHNSTON, 31, Fort Morgan, Colo., at about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. The accident occurred at the junction of a rural road and Illinois 242, about three miles south of the state highway's junction with Interstate 64 in Hamilton County.
Police said there was no indication that ROST'S car had skidded on slick pavement. Johnston was not injured in the crash.
The tractor-trailer was northbound on Illinois 242 when the car drove into its path from the rural road, police said.
In addition to ALAN ROST, the victims included his 22-year-old wife, KARLA JOE BROWN ROST; their children, STEPHANIE ANN, 5; JASON DEAN, 4; and CHARLES DEAN, 2; Alan Rost's brother, BRADLY SCOTT ROST, 22; and his sister, KARLA J. ROST, 15.
