Atlanta, GA Folsom's Restaurant Fire, Jul 1907

Atlanta, Ga., July 5. – (Special.) – The Atlanta fire department had a hard struggle at 2 o’clock this morning to save a business block in the center of the city. The fire started in the kitchen of Folsom’s restaurant on Marietta street near Broad, it is stated, from the carelessness of the cook. The flames spread rapidly and a dangerous conflagration was promised for a while. The entire fire department responded to the alarm and succeeded in confining the fire to the restaurant and Folsom’s hotel which were considerably damaged but well covered by insurance. The occupants of a Broad street hotel adjoining the burning building and through which the firemen had to work, lost no time in getting out of their rooms.
