Macon, GA Lightning Strike Proves Fatal, Aug 1912

TWO PEOPLE DEAD.

AS RESULT OF VIOLENT LIGHTNING DISPLAY AT MACON, GA.

Macon, Ga., Aug. 19. -- Violent lightning which centered about Mercer university at Tatnall square yesterday caused the death of two persons, the injury of two others, damage to many buildings and a panic in a Presbyterian church directly across the street from where a bolt had set fire to the building. The dead:
MRS. D. A. CRANFORD, 55, and grand-daughter, FLORA SULLIVAN, 5 years old, of Cordele.
The injured:
N. A. CRANFORD, 69, retired planter of Cordele.
His grand-daughter, VIRGINIA SULLIVAN, 10.
CRANFORD has little chance to live. The SULLIVAN girls are orphans. The CRANFORDS came here Friday to visit their children. While crossing from one yard to another during the electrical display they were felled as if by a bullet. MRS. E. B. CAMPBELL, who saw the four persons fall as if dead became insane. She has not recovered her normal senses.
