Griffin, GA Two Car Collision Kills Six, Jul 1956

SIX PERSONS KILLED IN GEORGIA WRECK.

Griffin, Ga. (AP) - Six persons were killed and a seventh seriously injured when one car smashed broadside into another vehicle at a highway intersection yesterday.
The survivor, JO ANN HYDE, 24, of Senoia, was in serious condition at a Griffin hospital. Her parents, ARCHIE G. HYDE, 56, and VIRGINIA LOU HYDE, 47, and a sister, ELAINE, 8, were killed.
Also killed were the three occupants of the other car; WILLIAM SAMUEL LUNCEFORD and JAMES ALVIN HOWELL, both 18 and both from Fayetteville, and MILTON G. WHITLOCK, 23, of near Senoia.
State Trooper O. V. Evans said the car driven by LUNCEFORD ran a stop sign at a "high rate of speed" and struck the HYDE car broadside.
