Suwanee, GA Falcons Football Player Killed, Dec 1989
CAR CRASH KILLS FALCON TIGHT END.
Suwanee, Ga., Dec. 18 (AP) - BRAD BECKMAN, a tight end for the Atlanta Falcons who played briefly for the Giants in 1988, died early today in a car crash on Interstate 85. He would have turned 25 on New Year's Eve.
BECKMAN, who played football at the University of Nebraska, was the second Falcon to die in a car accident in less than a month. On
Nov. 24, Ralph Norwood, a rookie tackle, was killed after he fell asleep driving his car on a Gwinnett Country road.
The Gwinnett County police said the accident happened around 4 A.M. on I-85 south of the Falcons' Suwanee training complex. The Atlanta area had a dusting of snow and sleet early today.
The police said the car in which BECKMAN was a passenger bumped into the rear of another vehicle, skidded and was hit broadside by a truck. The driver, JEFF MODESITT
a tight end who was cut by the Falcons last May 26, was hospitalized with unspecified injuries, the police said.
