Four Killed at Crossing in Gulfport

GULFPORT, Dec. 31.--Four persons, three of them women, were killed and two others seriously injured here tonight when an L. and N. passenger train completely demolished an automobile at the 39th street crossing.

The dead:

Joe McNamee, butcher
Mrs. Joe McNamee, his wife
Mary Duckworth, their 17 year old daughter
Mrs. Harry Duckworth McNamee, wife of an employe[sic] on the Gulf and Ship Island Railroad.

The injured are: Miss Hazel Thompson and Carl Ludwig, both of Gulfport.

The tragedy occurred about seven o'clock. The train, completely destroyed the car and hurled the body of Mary Mcnamee 200 feet down the track.
