Carolyn Hotel Fire

Turlock (UPI) -- More than 25 elderly permanent residents of the three-story Carolyn Hotel were escorted to safety early today when a fire gutted the brick and wooden structure, causing an estimated $250,000 damage.
Cause of the fire was not known. The residents were sheltered temporarily in a cafe across the street from the hotel and treated for smoke inhalation and minor hurts.
In addition to the hotel, the fire destroyed a restaurant, a tavern and an answering and finance office on the ground floor.
