VALUABLE PASTURE DESTROYED IN SOLANO COUNTY.
Vacaville, Cal., October 7. -- Late this afternoon a tepehone message from COULTER ranch called about one hundred persons to fight fires in the hills north of town, and some three miles away. The property burnt over was some of the best pasture in this section. A party of fire fighters were surrounded in two high wild oat patches and narrowly escaped. More than three hundred acres were burnt over, and a large number of trees were destroyed. At 7 P.M. a second call for help was received and another large detachment of men have left. It is reported that some cattle running lose in the hills have perished, but owing to the heat of the ground burnt over the place is inaccessible.
