Articles about the deadly Cahaba River Bridge Train Wreck near Birmingham, Alabama on December 27, 1896.
I think this image from Google Maps is the correct bridge. The location near the Shoppes at Grand River is too far from West Blocton to be the right one. The stories say the bridge was south of Gurnee about 6 miles and the train was running on Southern/Central of Georgia route. It also says it was 27 miles south of Birmingham when the accident occurred. By comparing what route maps I could find for Central of Georgia and Southern, this looks to be in the right place.
