SCHOOL BUS AT HUNTSVILLE IN WRECK; ONE IS DEAD.
ELEVEN CHILDREN HURT WHEN BUS PLUNGES FROM ROAD INTO PINE TREE.
Huntsville, Ala., Mar. 31. (UP) - Investigation was being made here today into the cause of a school bus wreck in which one child was killed and 10 injured near here yesterday afternoon.
The dead child is M. J. WORLEY, 11, whose neck was broken, when the bus plunged from the highway and shattered against a tree. Thirty children were packed into the vehicle.
When the bus crashed into the tree, its top collapsed and fell upon the occupants. JOHNNY KELLY and JACK KNOWLES, who received serious head injuries, may die, physicians said.
EARLY HALL, driver of the bus, said the steering mechanism apparently failed as the vehicle sped along the dirt highway.
