Campbell, AL Train Wreck, Jan 1889

Freight Wreck on the Columbus and Western.

Columbus, Ga., January 31. – [Special.] – A report reached this city this evening of an accident to a freight train on the Columbus and Western railroad, near Campbell, Alabama. The extent and particulars of the accident cannot be learned here. It is said that Mr. O. C. BULLOCK, of this city, had a car load of mules in the wreck, and a number of them were killed. The Central railroad officers here are unusually reticent of late about accidents, and it is hard to ascertain the exact truth.
